MFA - Housing New Mexico
The New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA), a 70+ member organization charged with helping New Mexicans with low to moderate incomes become homeowners, approached HiDef Web Solutions to do a complete redesign of their website in early 2009. A little more than two months later, the new site was launched. Our team thoroughly enjoyed working with the wonderful staff at MFA who knew the value of their mission and how their website communicates it.
Besides giving a fresh, friendly face to an industry which is often perceived as complex and bureaucratic, the new site was completely reorganized to help visitors find the information they need fast. Stories of families assisted by MFA were added throughout the site to give the organization an approachable, human feeling. Navigation, compared with the previous site, was consolidated and condensed.
The new site's greatest features, however, lie under the hood: a content management system which enables non-technical MFA staff to maintain the site themselves, and allows the administrators to set fine-grained permissions and detailed workflows. Calendar and event planning, document management, FAQ management, job posting and résumé management, and image galleries were all added. Additionally, a what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) development tool now allows the organization to easily convert the abundance of PDF forms on the site to web-based forms, which will make a huge dent in administrative work and ease of use for visitors.
