DrupalSites.net is a directory that lists websites powered by the open-source content management system Drupal. We hope to demonstrate flexibility of this CMS by listing all the different sites out there.
DrupalSites.net is absolutely non-commercial venture maintained and moderated by Drupal veteran Andrey Pshenichny (http://drupal.org/user/920) and his small team of Drupal friends.
For the team it is yet another contribution to an amazing Drupal community. So we are very proud to be listed at drupal.org (http://drupal.org/node/289913) as a site that "already proven themselves generally useful".
A bit of history:
The very first version of drupalsites.net was launched on October 31, 2005 (http://drupal.org/node/35852). In 2005 the idea was simple: hey, all those Mambo-Jumbo CMS has some kind of site directory but Drupal does not. In addition, the list of Drupal powered sites at drupal.org was down for a few month back then, so we decided to create our own directory.
At first it was of course a kind of views/visitors rating competition. But there were also many site owners who were ready to present their Drupal creations to the world without competitive games or counters placed on their sites. That's how current state of drupalsites.net evolved. The no-competition directory was born on November 27, 2005 (http://drupal.org/node/39041).
Since then there were a lot of updates both in functionality and design. But the concept remains.
Quick rule set (more at FAQ):
Listed Drupal powered sites are submitted by community or moderators. No bribes are accepted for the site to become "featured" even if you decide to become a sponsor. Any moderation is left to sole discretion of moderator.
DrupalSites.net is hosted in Switzerland and moderated from EU so we apply local rules to offensive or illegal content. But common sense is the rule number one regardless of location.
