DrupalSites.net blog

2010/06/29 Latest large update at DrupalSites

What was happening during last week with drupalsites.net?

Well, of course you see the biggest change: revamped design! Finally we have large screenshots (many asked for it) and less cluttered layout. Navigation has become easier and more logical as well. For example featured sites list has its own menu link now but not just a button hidden in the middle of the front page.

2010/02/23 Create your perfect website screenshot.

I noticed that quite so many drupalsites.net users would submit not exactly nice screenshots for the sites they want present to the crowd. For majority of visitors screenshot is the major push to click on your site link to check it out. So it's very important to have a nice one. I gathered a few tips for grabbing a perfect website screenshot (and not only for drupalsites.net of course). Here we go:

2010/02/02 Few updates and horror message translation contest

That was a tremendous couple of month for drupalsites.net. We had the biggest surge of nice submission in years (so some were delayed to be promoted). Lately the quality of drupal websites is dramatically better in general. Both visually and on the functionality side. Not so many "blumarine" sites are popping up, nice. Drupal devs - full steam ahead!

Also, I'm very glad that 85% of latest submissions are provided with a great website screenshot. If you sill don't know how to make it just wait a few more days. New blog post on this matter will be published in a few days.

2009/12/24 Book review: Drupal 6 Social Networking

Drupal 6 Social Networking (by PACKT Publishing) will be extremely handy to anybody new to Drupal and those looking for recipes to build community sites. It gives you the basic understanding of how Drupal works and what buttons you need to push to achieve desired results. It has great step by step tutorials (with screenshots) on the vast majority of common tasks you do with a Drupal site: content, menu and user management, permissions, adding and configuring modules, etc. It also helps you understand how Drupal modules integrate with each other to extend site functionality.

2009/12/17 DrupaCamp Vienna 2009

It turned out we were traveling on the same train with @gaborhojtsy so it was my chance to question him about i18n issues. And I really love it how even most busy core (and around) dev guys in Drupal community are friendly and ready to share.

I loved the Camp organization. It was nice, neat and friendly. Moreover, organizers did learn on the fly making a better Drupal branded signs to navigate in huge Vienna Tech Uni building. And of course that geeky coffee machine.
