Showcase Adappt - Smart TV development

adappt is a software development company that specialises in Smart TV development .
The Smart TV applications are based on their propriety mobile development platform. Adappt has a core set of integrations wih the Drupal CMS allowing their native apps to be CMS enabled.
AeonDada.com is my re-branded Drupal web design company, for anyone who remembers me as seocompany4 I have re-branded to reflect the fact I much prefer building websites (although I still do the odd bit of social media). I am looking for my next project, so please give me a call if you need.

You didn't make this?

I thought this looked very familiar, but this is a Drupal 7 for sale template/theme from http://www.templatemonster.com/drupal-themes/33858.html

Live demo: http://livedemo00.template-help.com/drupal_33858/

I don't want to accuse you of anything, but you surely did not customize very much of this template, did not even really change your logo, that much.

I'm new to this site, but I'm assuming that if you post a website here, that you should be honest about where it comes from.

The only thing I can give you in this good job at putting your content in the site, but then again, this is a CMS and that should not have been very difficult at all.

*Edit* I re-read some of the http://drupalsites.net FAQ, and I saw that you can post Drupal sites that are not your own, however I am not satisfied by the fact that you make it sound like you created it.

HI Curtis, in this case it

HI Curtis, in this case it was chosen by adappt because they loved the design. Quite often I design my own, I am not that precious. I have listed it because it is a Drupal site, it looks nice and I would like them to gain exposure.

Sorry I haven't looked back

Sorry I haven't looked back here in a bit.

I looked at your site at AeonDada.com, and saw one of your projects, it looked very nice. I meant no negativity to you, it was just a matter of clarification.

I quite like the site (and

I quite like the site (and that was the reason it is featured). It's up to owner indeed if they want to use custom or stock design.

The only remark: I understand Veronica was behind the site development (except the theme)? Then it is just fine to post a bit of self promo. If not, please remove it.

HI Robo, yes I built and host

HI Robo,
yes I built and host the site, including a lot of the copy writing. From a design perspective, that has been gone over repeatedly, and although I did not put a screenshot of the mobile, site, I have included that now, which was where our design efforts lay.
One interesting thought for you - perhaps you could have a separate showcase area for mobile optimized drupal sites?

Great, I would think so.

Great, I would think so.

Great point re mobile. Just added a category (so please attribute your works with it). Will think how to highlight this new trend on the DSn.

A reply to CK Media

RE: CK media do not understand why companies use templates? I sent a reply to CK Media saying why I thought they were mistaken, I thought it would be published in the comments but it wasn't, so I am quickly trying to remember what I said - it was along the lines that a company like adAPPt, that has staff with advanced coding skills (and drupal coding skills), which are probably costed at £75.00 per hour, would simply not consider it an efficient use of time to design their own template, -- when they can be bought off the shelf for say £50.00.
It could cost them 3 times as much if they spent just 2 hours making their own unique template.
I think CK Media don't quite understand the full extent of the skills of people like adAPPt.
I did a quick look at a ckmedia.co.uk website, and over 50% of my sony viao screen was black margins with only the middle strip actual web content. I then looked again at the adAPPt web site, and its content was much more readable, and so their efficient use of time in using a template was obviously the correct decision.

First of all, I am not

First of all, I am not affiliated with http://ckmedia.co.uk, my website is http://ckmedia.ca and I have not launched my company website (Just a landing page) as I have been overloaded with client work.

Second, I fully understand why companies use templates and I fully understand the value in doing so, that was not the point of my comment. The author of this post has edited and re written the description and posting of this site.

The initial wording in the presentation of this project made it sound like they were taking credit for the design (at least in my interpretation) with no mention that a template was used, and I figured you should give credit, where credit is due. I happen to know it was a template monster product as I view that site for inspiration at times when I get designers block.

Other than that, I have no issues with Adapt. One peice of advice though, you should differentiate your logo from the template logo just a little more than what you have done. When you use a template you want to project that it's a time saving decision and not a sign of a lack of creativity.

Regards,
Curtis

HTML5 bits

Hello Curtis / Dave,

I had no intention of getting drawn into this, but since this seems to be creating a kafuffle please read the following.

wow boys you really need to relax a bit.

We design plenty of sites from scratch, and as I said I work for my clients, not the other way around. I will do what ever is best for the client, and this is a showcase for sites not just designers.

I originally said I enjoyed the CSS3 work, that simple statement referred to the mobile site, which you can only see with a smartphone or if you switch your browser agent. In particular, I had fun with css3 keyframes So when you change pages, the tabs are fixed, and the body fades in. Doing this with CSS3 rather than jquery was fun and looks much smoother.

Now please let that be an end to it, but of course if you have a second please do view the site on an iphone or your mobile of choice.

I do really apologize to you

I do really apologize to you Redmai as this has been taking way out of context now.

I honestly did not mean to cause you this much greif, like I said in my first comment I initially mis understood the full intentions of drupalsites.net, assumed that designers posted their own work as in a lot of other sites. This is obviously not the case and you never actually said you designed it.

I have been a victim of plagiarism/rippers in the past so that's why I'm a little sensitive or quick to react to that.

So again, my apologies.
- Curtis
