iFactory-built website unveiled at 2014 International AIDS Conference – HIV Foundation Queensland

In a new push to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in Queensland and tackle discrimination, HIV Foundation Queensland unveiled its brand new iFactory-built website at the 20th International AIDS Conference in Melbourne, Australia this week. Brisbane-based digital agency iFactory credits the success of the website project to the collaborative partnership between Foundation staff and iFactory designers and developers.

The launch of the website – http://hivfoundation.org.au – follows the Foundation’s recent formation on 1 December 2013 and demonstrates a vital step towards engaging the wider community through a digital platform. The website has been designed to target the whole-of-population, including those diagnosed with HIV and to a greater extent their families, friends and extended networks, and provides users the opportunity to learn, interact and in the near future register to volunteer and donate to the fight.

HIV Foundation Queensland was formed to replace the Queensland Government’s Ministerial Advisory Committee for HIV/AIDS to further its efforts in reducing HIV transmission in Queensland and working towards an HIV-free generation. Now operating as a not-for-profit organisation, the Foundation’s function is to implement comprehensive prevention programs, increase voluntary testing, increase treatment uptake, increase awareness of transmission and discrimination, facilitate and support HIV/STI research in Queensland, and facilitate treatment for people living with HIV in Queensland, all of which are supported by the Queensland HIV Strategy 2013-2015.

The digital agency that designed and developed the Foundation’s website was Brisbane-based digital agency iFactory - http://ifactory.com.au. The success of the digital project iFactory attributes to having the right mix of strategists, designers, writers and programmers and a highly collaborative partnership with Foundation staff. In particular the Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement Officer, Louise Evans, was especially pleased with the work delivered by iFactory saying, “The site is looking really great and we have received some really positive feedback already.”

The responsive site was built in the Open Source Content Management System Drupal. It integrates with Google Language tools, ShareThis (an all-in-one widget that lets people share any content on the Web with friends via e-mail, social channels and more), Google Analytics and Vision 6 Email marketing to handle email subscriptions. The site is also WCAG 2.0 (AA) compliant and offers secure, user friendly functionality for online donations.

Since their inception in 2004, iFactory has worked on hundreds of digital projects across a wide range of industries including health and education, construction, resources, transport, retail, technology and much more. From not-for-profit organisations like HIV Foundation Queensland and venture-capital start-ups through to multinational corporations, iFactory provides advanced web solutions from website design and eCommerce to internet marketing and systems integration.

The launch of the HIV Foundation Queensland website comes as iFactory is expanding its offering to State and Federal Government departments through accreditation with the Queensland Government Information Technology Contracting (GITC) Framework, now facilitated through QAssure.

Winner of the Interactive Media Awards Best in Class (Charity) award 2014.
