The Green Wave is a tree planting celebration for children and youth around the world leading up to the International Year of Biodiversity in 2010. The site was developed with a graphic signature appealing to children between the ages of 10 and 15 years old. It integrates with Google Maps, allowing participants to place their tree on a world map, and also display all of the participating local initiatives on an integrated world map. The site simulated the green wave by automatically publishing the locations, stories and pictures of each initiative as 8:10 PM (20:10) passed in the local time zone for each tree.
