Newsvibe collects and categorises news stories from South African websites. These news stories are posted on the Newsvibe home page, and can be voted for by any registered user. Anyone can comment on a news story, and can reply on previous comments left by other users.

Participating on the site earns users karma. The following actions earns the user karma:
- Voting on stories.
- Commenting on stories.
- Inviting people to register for an account.

Any karma earned will expire after 90 days, so continued participation is needed in order to keep one's karma up! Note that the top 5 users will be shown in the left-hand column of the site.
