The Jewish Reconstructionist Federation is the the central body serving Reconstructionist congregations. The web site is an attempt to help create community among the members of the 100+ congregations as well as reach out to Jews and non-Jews interested in learning more about the Jewish Reconstructionist movement.
The basic idea of Reconstructionist Judaism is that the Jewish people are the creators of Judaism and are responsible for its evolution. With deep respect for tradition, this approach toward Judaism enables communities to consciously become part of the process of creating the future of Judaism.
