My name is Mark-André Voss and http://www.luxori.de is my first project with drupal.
Luxori is a german lifestyle magazin that launches August 2007.
When I had to decide which CMS I should use for luxori.de the article-series by IBM

helped me a lot. It can also be used as a good introduction to drupal in general.
The contribution about the New York Observer in the drupal.org forums also helped me in many ways:

From their website I adopted the concept of editions for the frontpage and the category pages.
As http://www.luxori.de is still under heavy development it would help a lot to get some comments, criticism or praise to known how I can advance the website in any ways.
