Foothills Natural Gas Co-op - Client Content Management System
MISSION STATEMENT:
"To provide our membership with the benefits of progressive co-operative ownership."
VISION STATEMENT
"To be rural Alberta's premier co-operative."
HISTORY OF THE CO-OP
In February of 1974, a meeting in Olds, Alberta, was held to form a member-owned rural gas co-op that would encompass a franchise area defined as west of QE II to the foothills, from north of Bowden to just south of Carstairs, an area of 958 square miles.
By March of 1975, sign up meetings were held throughout the central Alberta franchise area. Contracts, utility right of ways and liens were collected at such volume that in August of 1975, the plows began to break ground for the first gas lines southeast of Didsbury. By the end of 1976, nearly 500 customers were burning natural gas, and by the end of 1978 our main distribution system was installed.
As of 2009, our membership has grown to more than 3,000 members. Our Board of Directors is composed of nine members, and our office is currently operating with thirteen staff members.
