European Machine Vision Association now on Drupal
The European Machine Vision Association used a rather old Mambo-Installation for quite a long periode for their web site. However, while Mambo at the time was a nice solution and the Association also was still being quite small. That has changed dramatically over the last years however, EMVA grew enormously in member count and in content and the old site quickly became a nightmare to administer. Mambo was clearly at the end of its capabilities. Also, any sort of interactive feature like various types of member-generated-content was completely out of scale for Mambo.
So the decision was absolutely clear when the relaunch was due: Drupal would be the only system flexible enough to cater for all needs.
The design very strongly mimics the old site, only it got wider. For our personal taste, the web site has far too many first level navigation items, however the client decidedly asked for this to represent its vastness of topics covered.
The site uses magnificent Panels 2 quite extensively so our main tribute goes to the Panels 2 developers - thank you very much!
