Dota Allstars is a popular game all over the world and in Russia in particular. In December 2005 we have created a site dotapick.ru for funs of this game in Russia.
At first we used simple HTML and then e107 CMS, but it had restricted in opportunities. So we decided to migrate to Drupal in April 2006.
About 1 year we have been using this CMS and it's ok. We have made a design for site and theme according to design of game. The site is a quite popular - it's one of the top 100 gamers sites in Russia. Maximum visits a day was 4500 (38000 of visits) - and CMS works very fast even at shared hosting. With Drupal 4 we meet the problem with overloading processor of hosting, but Drupal 5 is faster.
For site I used 2 new modules (development of existing modules from drupal.org):
1) in Drupal 4 - the synchronization with forum CMS to show last topics
2) in Drupal 5 - modified Notify module - providing people opportunity to subscribe to news at registration
