This site was launched as a community and public relations arm of City Gates Academy, Wilmington DE, USA. City Gates Academy is an umbrella school in which students attend classes 2 days per week to get competent instruction. The remaining school days are done at home with parental supervision. This drupal powered community extends the school resources by providing an archive of policies, class resources, creative outlets and support forums.
Started about 2 years ago, the site now has full acceptance on the core operation of the school. Features include a catalog of courses using cck and views, organic groups for each class and some staff functions, school policies on-line. Tac lite is used to manage visibility for students, parents and staff.
Teachers post curricula and assignments. Volunteer assignments are coordinated using the site.
The site was built as a Eagle Scout Project for the school. It has allowed the school to go nearly paperless.
The site is now based on Drupal.5.12
