MetSA, the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Students Association is a student-run forum for interaction among students of the department. Since its inception in 2000, MetSA has been responsible for conducting such events as 'Amalgam', the Metallurgical Department fest at IIT Madras, industrial visits and bringing out the department magazine, 'The Etch' among others. In addition to this, MetSA actively participates in introducing the students of the department to advances in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering by conducting demonstrations and lectures. MetSA also plans and conducts an annual department sport meet. In the past, MetSA has helped organize picnics and tours to help the students of the department unwind.
