Free Music Software & Audio Application Info

Thanks for dropping in! This website offers free information about free music software applications for Linux, UNIX, BSD, Apple Mac, Windows and others.

The main idea of this site is to offer information to the general public regarding these free softwares to show that there are truly viable free software alternatives to the mainstream proprietary options.

If you are a music software developer (or just a fanatic like me) and would like to contribute to this site, please contact me. You are most welcome to help build a solid database of information regarding free music creation software apps.

Every now and then something exciting enough happens here at Conscious Manifestations to announce it on all our sites. This is one of those occasions.

Wikipedia has an article on Free Audio Software that might be of interest to the folks on this site.

It has been a while since I have updated this site. I have been quite busy with the flow of life.

I am getting back into the swing of things with Conscious Manifestations, and Free Music Software is near the top of the priority list.

What does this mean?

Well...

1) Free Music Software gets a much-needed and overdue upgrade to Drupal 4.7.
2) More softwares get added to the line-up. Many more.
3) The information architecture of the site gets a serious upgrade.
4) Tags and tag clouds are implemented.

And so much more.

Free Music Software

I finally had a moment to add another software, so I added Csound, a sweet application with so many faces in so many places.

From Csound Developer Website:

"Csound is a programming language created for sound rendering and signal processing in Linux, Mac, and Windows. It amazingly consists of over 450 operational codes used to build 'instruments.' Csound has an SCO generator for percussion tracks (Drumachine), an audio file DSP utility, a Bol Processor BP2 that simultaneously processes MIDI, QuickTime, and Csound via OMS on Macs. There are different versions of Csound for each platform as well as CsoundAV which allows 3D graphics and animations besides normal real-time audio."

Today I spent a while tweaking out the menus on the top to give people a better way to quickly access to the free music software applications on the site. I categorized them by actions.

When I get another moment, I am going to seriously clean up the category structure which is a little crazy right now. This will be done when the new Drupal 4.7 stable release comes out.

In the next week I will be adding a few more really nice applications.

I added Hydrogen to the line-up today.

"Hydrogen is advanced drum machine software that provides intuitive pattern-based programming. It is fast, with graphical interface based on QT 3 and can import sound samples in .wav, .au, .aiff and supports samples in compressed FLAC files. Hydrogen will play multiple patterns at once with the ability to weave patterns into a song. There are thirty-two instrument tracks with volume, mute, solo, and pan capabilities. When you're finished you can export your song to a .wav or .midi file."
