What Did They Do in '07-'08?

The North Carolina General Assembly was busy in the 2007-2008 biennium. But all that work can get buried in legalese. So the Civitas Institute policy staff has put together a Legislative Recap Series designed to guide you through the session--including what they did and didn't do.

Recruiting: Institute for Practical Politics

Every semester, the Civitas Institute of Practical Politics holds a Campaign School for college students. Over the course of four months, students will learn the basics of campaign management including, how to: create and draft an effective campaign plan; earn media; carry out a successful fundraising campaign; formulate a campaign budget; and create their own opposition research plan. The Myth of the Young Voter

Previously, the Civitas Institute explored the myth that new voters were going to overrun polling places and dramatically shift the political landscape in North Carolina. Now we turn our attention to another electoral hypothesis – that young voters, those between 18 and 25, are going to also show up in droves and they will be the ones who create the new paradigm in electoral politics.
