Eastern Park & Ride scheme to go ahead

A former aerodrome, near Hedon, looks set to be the new location for an Eastern Park & Ride scheme, similar to that in operation at Priory Park in Hessle.
It has been almost a year since potential sites were earmarked for development in the East and North of Hull and it is now thought that the Eastern site will start to see progress before the end of the year.
The land is owned by Hull City Council, even though it lies in the East Riding.

GCSE results in Holderness.

The number of pupils who gained the benchmark of five A* to C grades in English and maths went up at two of the schools in the Seaside FM area.

Coastguard Strike

Coastguard staff around the UK have took place in a 48-hour walkout in a long-running dispute over pay.
The rescue co-ordinators, part of the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS), are angry they are paid less than other emergency services. Staff want a rise of £3,000 on their current base salary of about £12,500 a year.
Up to 700 Maritime and Coastguard Agency staff across the country took part in the stoppage over the August Bank Holiday weekend, what is typically a busy weekend at sea.

East Yorkshire College accused of exploitation

An independant college in Winestead has seen students walk out after accusations of exploitation.
The 'College for International Co-operation and Development' at Winestead Hall in Winestead is privatly funded and is suppost to teach participants to to become 'Development Instructors' in Africa and elsewhere. However, a number of ex-pupils are claiming that most of their time was taken up with fundraising and begging on the streets.
