REO Industry Directory, a membership website in the Real Estate industry using Drupal

Tue, 2012-02-07 07:52

The REO Industry Directory is a place where asset managers and REO companies meet REO agents. The concept is simple yet powerful. REO agents get a featured membership on the directory and are displayed prominently when an asset manager searches for agents within a 30 mile radius of their service area. The website identifies the location of the website visitor too and if they "allow" sharing of their location, the map changes focus to their city/metro and displays the Featured REO agents serving their area.

Ocular Concepts (re)designed this website to focus on giving the Featured Members the best return for the membership. We redesigned the website with a focus on asset managers and REO agents - the two main audience who would be using this system. We also developed city specific landing pages for 50 most popular cities in USA. The user can search for their city on the All Cities page too(http://www.reoindustrydirectory.com/agent-by-city). Our web designers made it compelling enough for the visitors to take the next steps on the website through well placed calls to action.

Drupal was chosen as the content management system and we made the footer editbale for adding new static pages to the website. We also developed a Drupal powered blog which was custom designed and integrated. The website integrates with Ubercart 2 to process recurring featured memberships on the website. It communicates with the PayPal Website Payments Pro API to set recurring subscriptions on the admin. Upon receiving the payments, the basic members automatically become Featured ones. Using Drupal, we also provided admin the ability define the search range for Featured and basic membership. This was integrated with the Google Geolocation API v 2.

Here is a list of modules used in the REO Industry directory web development project:

  • CCK
  • Blog
  • Date/Time
  • ImageCache
  • Meta Tag (SEO)
  • Page Title (SEO)
  • XML Sitemap
  • TagCloud
  • Ubercart
  • Paypal
  • Recurring payment
  • Wysiwyg Editor
  • Custom modules for Google Maps API

GetUbercart.com - Ubercart Promo Site

Mon, 2012-02-06 08:09

I've been using Ubercart since Drupal 5 and really like the system. So when I noticed the UC developers were not getting the love they deserve, I decided to create my own promo website for Ubercart to extend the user base and hopefully attract more developers.

The site is not quite finished and currently I'm in the process of populating it with content in the Modules/Themes/Web Hosts/Dev For Hire sections.

Site: http://www.getubercart.com

I didn't use too many modules for the site. Tried to keep it simple but will be adding a few more in the next month or so.

Current Modules:

Drupal 7
Views
Private Message
Wysiwyg (CKEditor)
Forum
Pathauto

Future modules:
Fivestar with comments for content rating.

So currently I'm working on tracking down Web Hosts specialising in Drupal Hosting and Developers who are experience in Drupal/Ubercart work. If you'd like to be listed in the Dev and Web Host directory please sign up on the site and submit your business or email your submission to info@getubercart.com

www.kluhster.com

Sat, 2012-02-04 22:40

I have started a new website called Kluhster. My developers used the Drupal software to create this site and I would like you to log on and tell me what you think!

We have been live for about 3 weeks and, obviously, our next goal is to get as many people as possible to the site! We are still working to improve the site, so don't give up if you find something not quite right!

The concept of Kluhster (the phonetic spelling of "cluster") is a social network that uses common interests to connect people together. For now, we currently have 3 "clusters" (kluhsters); Golf, Hunting and Movies.

Here's an example of how it works in just one of the Kluhsters...Movies.

Within the Movie Kluhster, we have the following areas:

-Forums
-Movie Search
-Movie Reviews
-Latest Releases
-Top Rated Movies
-My profile

Essentially, you can go into the movie search and find thousands of movies. You can select "I have seen this" or "I want to see this" and it logs that movie under "My Profile" in the "Movies I have seen" or "Movies I want to see" heading. You can also select whether you liked or disliked the movie.

Other users, of course, do the same.

The site then uses a algorithm to match you to other users who have seen (and liked) a certain percentage of the same movies. Once we find a match, each of those respective users will get a "Friends Request" that they can either confirm or deny.

Voila! You have just made a connection with someone who has similar taste in movies! So, you can help each other out with movie suggestions, discussion and reviews.

You can also write your own movie reviews, look for the hottest movies and just talk about movies and other topics in general in the Forums.

The same is true for the other Kluhsters (Golf and Hunting)!

One username and password grant you access into all of the Kluhsters even if you never visit them.

We plan on adding many more Kluhsters as finances allow. We already have plans for Fashion, Dance, Books, Fitness, Bible and more!!

Let me know what you think!

? and = changes to %3F and %3D

Wed, 2012-02-01 10:01

Dear All,

I installed CiviCRM with Drupal 7.10. It works fine with other operation but I have a problem:

I created CiviCRM Profile and I try to put the link in path in the back to make the menu for the Profile.

In the backend I put as this URL civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=10 after I save it generate to node/5.
At the frontend it return to civicrm/profile/create%3Freset%3D1%26gid%3D10

Why is the ? and = changes to %3F and %3D respectively.
What is the correct approach to do this.

Thanks in advances!

CanCanCover.com

Fri, 2012-01-27 21:41

http://cancancover.com

Insurance comparison with a 'Moulin Rouge' look and feel: CanCanCover.com work with specialist insurance providers to compare the best car, home & contents and landlord insurance cover and policy price for unusual and non-standard requirements.

Built using Drupal 7, the CanCanCover.com marketing team can self-manage and maintain their website text, images, SEO meta data and more. No need to worry about whether the image they've uploaded is the correct size, type or resolution, the CanCanCover.com website automatically reformats and positions images which means brand constancy is maintained at all times.

The site has a whole host of other 'behind the scenes' features as well as a few nifty 'front of house' jQuery elements. Happy comparing!

The GEOBLASTER in Drupal 7

Mon, 2012-01-23 06:03

GEOBLASTER USA (geoblasterusa.com) is a website built for the American company in the GEOBLASTER family of websites. The Canadian website, gogeoblast.com is also built on Drupal 7.

The GEOBLASTER executives have been educated to the powerful abilities of Drupal, and appreciate the self-managability and expansion capabilities of Drupal. It took time, but now they are comfortable using their customized software; saving, updating and managing their own data, images, videos, and news. They are able to publish the information they want on their own website on their own schedule, using an interface as easy as Facebook. They are not web developers.

The theme was designed by Doug at Poolside Media. Scott eSolutions (scottm316) built the website, and configured the modules. Scott eSolutions turned the design into a Drupal theme using the Zen Starterkit. It only took scottm316 2 months to build the website, as it doesn't provide too much extra functionality - it is simply a showcase for the GEOBLASTER product. 1 designer, 1 developer.

Only very common modules are used in the website (so far). The GEOBLASTER executives understand they can add to their website features such as e-commerce, forums, commmenting, and more as time goes on. But immediately, this website was built to establish an online presence in the USA. Contrib modules include:
- Views / Ctools
- Global Redirect
- Pathauto
- Meta tag field
- Google Analytics
- Libraries / Wysiwyg
- XML Sitemap

So visit! Wet abrasive blasting using the GEOBLASTER will eventually make sandblasting obsolete. Not unlike how using Drupal makes custom PHP CMS's built from scratch obsolete!

theatrewashington.org

Thu, 2012-01-19 10:33

theatrewashington.org is my first Drupal project. I used numerous modules and a few hundred lines of custom module code. Almost every node view, views listing, and add/edit form used a custom template. I also customized other forms like user registration, login, comments, ..etc. I used a commercial theme called Quantive by RocketTheme. This site replaced and old ASP/MS Sql Server site called helenhayes.org. If you go there you will be redirected to theatrewashington.org. Much of the "customization" work I did you cannot see unless you have content manager privileges but you can see many views, GMap and Location implementations, and theming.

It turned out pretty well. Everyone appears to be happy. I was able to do everything that was required and desired using Drupal.

The only thing I think needs improvement is the schedule for the shows. I initially settled on a weekly schedule of shows mostly because it was easier to do. The weekly schedule is stored in a single node. I later came up with a sensible user interface to create individual datetime nodes so all the show times are linked to the main production node using the form api, javascript, templates, and a custom module. But the client got used to my initial implementation and did not want to change. With the weekly schedule I had to add "exceptions" to the display for special shows and for productions that did not follow a regular schedule. Also, using a node for each show time would enable more precise search result listings.

Next phase is to add a few little extras like forums and mobile support.

D7/Ubercart wholesale sales site

Sat, 2012-01-14 22:42

Site http://www.maximumgrowth.ca

This is a wholesale website for indoor gardening supplies. There is no public sales so the catalogue/ordering display is controlled with Views, Views Access, Quicktabs. When an anonymous user visits the site they are shown items without price/order forms. Once the user logs in they then can see price/order forms.

Example of catalogue shown to logged in user: http://www.maximumgrowth.ca/showcase/Screenshot-1.png
Same catalogue for anonymous user: http://www.maximumgrowth.ca/products/holland-secret-nutrients

Registration on the site is done only by the admin so I used Simple Access http://drupal.org/project/simple_access to control access to the Registration Page and Link.

The product page is done with a custom temple, Views, Views Access, Quicktabs http://drupal.org/project/quicktabs and References http://drupal.org/project/references

This is what an anonymous user sees http://www.maximumgrowth.ca/products/green-planet-nutrients/aussie-tonic
This is what a retailer/logged in user sees http://www.maximumgrowth.ca/showcase/Screenshot-3.png

The product info tabs are done With QuickTabs, Views and References. The References is use for the MSDS/Product Manuals, Where to Buy and Related Products.

The default Ubercart catalogue was removed and I use Vocabulary,Views, Custom regions and template suggestions http://forrst.com/posts/Add_page_template_suggestions_depending_on_conte... to do the catalogue

The rotating banner on the front page was done using Views, Views Slideshow http://drupal.org/project/views_slideshow and CCK.

Faith Life Now Store using Ubercart

Fri, 2012-01-13 22:02

Hi Guys,

We just finished construction of a new store for Faith Life Now. You can check out the finished product at: http://faithlifenow.com/store/.

This is our first D7 site of this scale. We had to rewrite several Ubercart modules so they would work correctly in D7 so we spent a bit more time on this than we would have if we had used D6. However, we felt it was worth the extra time due to the many new and improved features of D7.

We would love to hear what you think.

Using Context to replicate Apple.com Menu System and Layout

Thu, 2012-01-12 13:05

askten

We thought this build maybe of interest to community as an example of how to replicate Apple.com's (sub)menu layout (seen here http://www.apple.com/imac/), using the the Context Module.

The design brief was simple; Don't use drop-down menus (even thought that would add an additional step for users navigating the site) and replicate Apple's menu system.

The site's content structure is quite large, and Drupal was the perfect choice as we needed 12 types of content, including articles, blogs, PRs, polls, surveys and podcasts. All of which needed to be easily editable by a non-tech user.

A few main features;

- Context - By checking the condition via path, we display $section_title on the left and a custom menu per section of the site on the right.

- Events with sign-up; http://www.askten.co.uk/speaking/evening-william-montgomery

- Enquiry form which looks like it's within a node. This is done via a 'below content' block with the condition to only display that Webform on the specific pages. See http://www.askten.co.uk/cruise/cruises/summer-2012

- Image gallery using Views & Colorbox. See http://www.askten.co.uk/cruise/photographs

We'd be happy to elaborate on any details of the build and would appreciate any feedback.
